Cumbria Steam Gathering update

Entries for 2017 will close in two weeks time

With less than two weeks to go before entries close for the 2017 Steam Gathering we can now reveal that thanks to the efforts of the Estate of Barry Sheene, Suzuki GB, Martin Crooks of Crooks Suzuki and not forgetting our own Steve Morris, we will have two of the late Barry Sheene`s world championship winning Suzuki RG500 motorcycles on display at the Steam Gathering. It is 14 years since Barry died and 40 years since he won his last World Championship but he is still remembered with fondness by motor cycle racing fans around the globe.

Special attractions already booked include the Broke FMX extreme Moto Cross display team alongside traditional favourites the Sheep Show, the Pantonic All Stars Orchestra and the all action North West Lawn Mower Racing Association.

The temporary sandpit, a popular innovation with the younger visitors last year will return in 2017 along with the Mr Alexanders Travelling Show, entertainment for all the family during the weekend.

For the more adventurous, the Clip & Climb climbing wall is sure to prove a hit and if you ever wanted to be close to a bird of prey a visit to Joe`s Owls and mobile zoo will be a must.

All this in addition to the traditional displays of preserved machinery and vehicles, working displays, craft exhibition and collections of artefacts and memorabilia from days gone by.

The Food Hall will again be packed with all manner of good things from local producers and numerous catering outlets will be located around the rally site.

Join us over the weekend of July 29th & 30th, gates open at 9.00am on both days.
